Twin visit [28 Aug 2008|03:59pm]

naturesfriend
I'm at the library so I can use the high speed internet. Dial-up is the worst!!! And my house is so hot (about 85 degrees ) all the time. So I spend most of my time at the library, book store, or pool. Next week I'm driving with a friend to San Francisco to visit my twin. We haven't seen each other since our mom died 2 and 1/2 years ago. That's a long time! She won't come here(that's a long story)  and I haven't had a chance to go there. I am really looking forward to being with her. I hope to stay a few weeks. We do talk on the phone and its going to be great to hug & see her after all this time! My minutes are running out on this computer. Hope everyone who is a twin & everyone who isn't enjoys their family!

Gifts for Twins [11 Dec 2007|09:02pm]

Hi everyone,

My nephews are twins and I have a lot of trouble figuring out gifts for them. They will be 5 on Feb. 1st, which because it's so close to Christmas basically means I need double or more Christmas gifts, or birthday gifts, whichever way I choose to look at it.

First of all, these little guys have TONS of stuff. TONS. So, gift giving is never a matter of what they need.

My question is about gift sharing and/or gift splitting up.

At this age is it still best that I give them each the same thing? I wouldn't do the exact same thing, for example, I'd get them each a Magic School Bus book, but it'd be a different book. And I think sometimes I'd also get a 3rd book that was for both of them. But I can't remember. I definitely do that with non-twins, so I'm not sure if I did it with them.

However, now that they are 5, I'm wondering if it's time to find presents that are more different from each other or if it's really too soon for that. I would say these sweet boys are at about their age for maturity, but I'm told they are above average for books and for some thought processes. Unfortunately, they do have some problems with fine motor skills, so I'm always worried about giving them something they literaly can't do. It seems like there mom doesn't want any of those activities happening at home, aside from when it's part of their home work from pre K.

So, my Christmas idea is to get 2 different Magic School Bus Science Kits. I've only just found them online, so I haven't had a chance to see them. But I love the magic school bus books, and so do the boys. They will pay rapt attention to every single word on the page, and as you may know, some of those pages have a lot of words!

They are now also at that stage where they point to specific words in books and want to know what that word means. I don't think they've received much instruction (if any) on the sounds of letters, or other basic reading/pre-reading skills. Does anyone have a suggestion on books to get them for this?

I am quite ill and so the chance of me getting to a store to browse on my own before Christmas is very unlikely. So I have an even greater appreciation of any suggestions you may have for me.

Oh, one thing they love, but just seem to carry around and not actually do anything with, is a small wooden hexagram (or some such shape) that has holes punched all around the sides, through which a shoe lace goes through. they love walking around with these things. They call it their "sewing," although I've never seen them actually pull the shoe lace into or out of any hole.

I'm sorry if this is long. It's my first post in here and they are my first nephews. (Actually, to be more precise, they are not related to me by blood, or by marriage, they are related to me only by love because I've known their mom, who is 4 months older than I am, since the day I was born. And I do love these boys so very, very much.)

Thanks again!

Also thank you for your patience with me and this website. I know very little about computers, so if I'm doing something wrong or against the rules, please let me know. And if possible, point me in the right direction so that I can learn how it's supposed to be done.

Happy Holidays!

I'm a twin. I have a twin sister named Emily and my name is Paige. We are both 13. We aren't identical, we are in between being fraternal and identical. This is very rare. Or so I'm told. I really don't care if we are fraternal or identical. It doesn't matter to me. I notice that my other twin friend was in this community so I joined too. Her name is Lily and she has a twin sister named Lela. All 4 of us (meaning me, Emily, Lela, and Lily) have the same birthday. June 9th 1992. And we met last year at school. Has anyone else here had a coincidence like that? Oh I almost forgot, I am the older one of me and my sister. We are exactly 27 seconds apart. But I am waaay taller. :)

It's nice to be here!

Hello folks. I'll introduce myself.

I'm B. And, I'm a twin (shock)

Of course, bored out of my mind, I surfed the live journal communities and found a twin one. (That's you guys) and after follwing the yellow brick road, I'm here.

My brother and I are identical. However, our parents raised us to be individuals. As a result, we have different taste in music. I enjoy classical - he enjoys mostly pop. He's a sharp dresser. I'm more into punk stuff.

I still get a kick out of ppl asking us, "Are ya'll twins?" I generally reply, "No, I'm just ten minutes from the future; I just haven't found my way back yet."

weird twin stuff? [19 Dec 2004|12:40pm]

Ok another question for everyone:

Since I'm a twin I can ask annoying twin questions. :)

Do you and your sibiling experience "weird twin stuff"?

We don't really, but there have been a few times when we have been in separate states, and she knows when I'm upset, and will call me. It has not really worked the other way around though. If i'm sad for no reason I think "ooh maybe Becky's upset" and I call her and she's fine. But sometimes she's sad and knows it is because I am sad.

That's about it for weird twin things on my end. Anyone else?

LGBTQ twins? [19 Dec 2004|12:34pm]

I'm queer and my twin sister identifies as lesbian. It's cool, I came out in high school and she came out a couple of years later. I know identical twins have a higher chance of being queer if their twin is than other siblings. we don't know if we are identical but this supports that theory.

sometimes people react strangely or say stuff like "they should do research on you" or nature/nurture theories, etc. And of course it's been a little stressful for the family. Double the gays. :)

any other lgbtq twins up in here?

Hey everyone...Im Angela. I am almost 16 (January 17) and I am a ferternal twin. I do think being a twin has its ups and downs. I would like not to be so much like someone but it is okay. I dont really get along with Jennifer (my twin) but thats alright. I just really dont want to be reconized as one of the twins anymore. Does anyone else have this problem? Im sure you do. Can anyone help and give me some suggestions on how to be differnent from my sister. Ive tried alot of things. Non seem to work...I guess they are the wrong things...
